Meanwhile, Denny hopes that an invitation from Shirley to dinner will revive their romance of a long time ago, and Lorraine advises Alan to seek help after confessing to a childhood transgression. Denny Crane is so convinced that Carl Sack will be on the losing side of a cockfight business that he is betting an extremely large sum with him; Alan Shore and Lorraine Weller are suing a high school – which only teaches abstinence sex education – after a 15-year-old girl contracted HIV; and Katie Lloyd and Jerry Espenson take up the case of a woman who claims that a psychologist`s therapy sessions caused her husband`s suicide. A new lawyer (Saffron Burrows) in the firm immediately catches the attention of Alan, who is busy helping Jerry and Katie in a murder trial and receiving an offer from Gloria to be the father of her child. Meanwhile, Clarence and Lorraine portray a woman whose affair with her pastor has led to a loss of her faith. Shirley and Carl worry about the company`s reputation when Denny refuses Alan`s help to go it alone in a headline-grabbing murder case. In the fourth season finale, Alan and Denny mark his admission to the Coast Guard Auxiliary, but their relationship is put to the test when a Massachusetts town wants Alan to help him secede from the United States and Denny represents the opposition. Shirley participates in a case involving the dismissal of a radio personality for disrespectful language; Denny needs Alan`s help after his arrest; Katie wonders if Lorraine is hiding something. The percentage of approved Tomatometers reviews that gave this film a positive rating of Shirley and Alan are likely to be judged if they are on either side of a stolen sperm case; Jerry helps his objectophile ex-girlfriend (Mary Gross) when she loses her job as a teacher due to inappropriate contact with a student.
